You wanna see stars?

My mother’s older brother used to ask this question, with his fist balled up inside his sleeve. I think she looked in…once. I’m happy to say these are NOT the sort of stars I am inviting you to see. However, consider yourself cordially invited to see stars on two occasions:

  • Friday November 18, 2005 — 7-9 p.m. Bayview Glen Church, Toronto — Good Words Festival — Dave and I will have telescopes set up for people to see Mars, Venus and Jupiter as well as various constellations. The Good Words Festival is open to the public ($10/adult) and will feature a wide variety of Christian authors being interviewed, signing books and speaking in various seminars about books and words. There will also be a number of events for children, including a trailer for the Narnia mvie. If you are an aspiring reader or writer, or looking for a one-stop-Christmas-shopping event, this is the place for you to be. See goodwords.ca for details.

  • Friday December 9 - 7-8 p.m. A private observatory near Waterloo — Seek the Stars! — Local pastor/teacher/astronomer Doug Kranz and several illustrious colleagues are preparing high quality telescopes for us to view Mars at its peak, the Milky Way, the moons of Jupiter and the rings around Saturn. If the sky is clear, this will be a memorable evening, open to the whole family, free of charge. We can only accomodate a limited number of people so please RSVP to me as soon as possible to reserve a space for you and yours (and to get directions).

(Both events are weather permitting. If it’s cloudy, I could resort to my uncle’s method, if you’d like….)

Check out www.lpg.ca for details.

One more event — Now that the Stratford Festival has turned out the lights on another season, it is time for the Stratford Book Festival. Mark November 25-27 on your calendars. Most events are free (except for the CBC reading of A Christmas Carol). Check out www.stratfordbookfestival.ca for more information. I will be part of the Festival Book Market on the Saturday afternoon.

Finally, my apologies to those of you who suffered from extra content in my last emails. I am a complete Luddite, but my husband says it actually has to do with how YOUR computer is configured — to receive the letter as text or image. I hope this one comes through clearly for everyone.

Thanks for being part of this journey!
Susan

P.S. Late breaking news… I will be interviewed on 100 Huntley Street on a show airing on Friday December 23rd!
