Book festival announces more authors to appear; new sponsors

TORONTO — Good Words, a Christian book festival and expo scheduled for Toronto this fall has announced more additions to its growing list of authors and sponsors.

New authors added

Among the additional authors planning to attend are:

  • Ron Ellis, former Toronto Maple Leaf all star and member of the 1972 Summit Series Team Canada; author of Over the Boards
  • Internationally acclaimed author and speaker, Sue Augustine. Her latest book is When your past is hurting your present (Harvest House).
  • Susan Fish, author of the new Christmas-themed novel Seeker of Stars
  • Lorna Dueck, acclaimed journalist and TV host of Listen Up the national public affairs programme

These authors join previously announced Brian Stiller, N.J. Lindquist, Gene Veith, Michael Coren, and Barry Adams.

In keeping with Good Words mandate to be a fun-filled event, those attending Friday night (Nov. 18) will also be treated — weather permitting — to a star show. Susan Fish will set up telescopes so attendees can explore the heavens as she explains the astronomical perspective of the Christmas star.

New Sponsors added

CTS Television Network has agreed to become a major sponsor of Good Words as the official television network for the event.

At the same time, Toronto area radio station Joy 1250 was named the official radio broadcaster for Good Words.

They join already-signed sponsors Cook Communications, Essence Publishing, Christian Week, The Word Guild and Tyndale University College and Seminary.

The World Guild, Canada’s foremost Christian writer’s group, is coordinating its own Write Toronto conference in conjunction with Good Words.

Good Words is a family-oriented celebration of Christian literature in Canada. It is the first-ever such festival and is scheduled for Bayview Glen Church. in Toronto. It opens at 3 p.m. Friday November 18 and closes at 6 p.m. Saturday November 19. The church is located at Steeles Ave. E and Bayview Ave.
